Summary

St George's, founded in 1907 as one of the country's first co-educational boarding schools, is now a Maintained Day and Boarding School. It is a traditional, co-educational 11-18 all ability school with its own Chapel. There are over 1,000 pupils, of whom 10% are boarders and it is acknowledged as one of the country's top 10% of all ability schools. In March 2004 it received an outstanding OFSTED Report.

Overview

About the school:

Founded in 1907 as one of the country's first co-educational boarding schools. Now a Voluntary Aided, all-ability, Christian Foundation but non-denominational school. The school values each pupil as an Individual and has a tradition of excellence and success in all aspects of its community life.

St George's occupies an attractive open site in the small Hertfordshire town of Harpenden.

Over 40% of boarders have brothers and sisters at the school and priority is given to siblings. 30% of boarders live within 50 miles. Strong links with RAF and Army, with long experience of overseas boarders (33%). Increasing numbers of Middle-East ex-pat community. EU students only considered for two-year pre University courses at A Level.
